Heart Of Historic Pocklington, Close To Shops, Restaurants And Arts Centre

Carpenter’s Cottage is conveniently located in the heart of historic Pocklington; a very short stroll from shops, restaurants, arts centre (cinema and theatre), sports centre and Burnby Hall gardens, famous for its waterlilies. It is the perfect base for visiting the nearby city of York (13 miles) by bus or car, or for walking and cycling in the Yorkshire Wolds. Underfloor heating and a wood burning stove make the cottage cosy and comfortable all year round. Hand-crafted wooden fittings and a stained glass window in the en suite king-size bedroom all add to its charm. There is a utility room with washer/dryer – handy for walking and cycling holidays in all weathers. The cottage has its own private courtyard, secure cycle store and off-street parking, and guests are very welcome to share our large garden and its home-grown produce.

What some of our recent guests said...

* * * * * Genevieve and John – Such a great location!

We enjoyed our visit to the Yorkshire Wolds which offers so many delightful walks. We loved the cottage, comfortable, well equipped and in such a great location (quiet street in the middle of the thriving village of Pocklington). Thank you for welcoming us and giving us a tour of your workshop!

* * * * * Chris and Sara – We love everything about it!

Our second stay in this beautiful cottage. We love everything about it! It has everything you need, immaculate, relaxing and cosy. Patrick and Helen are such lovely people, always so welcoming. Love the eggs from ‘the girls’!! We’ll be back soon without a doubt!!

* * * * * Cara and Rab – A very special place…

We have enjoyed our stay in this beautiful cottage. Everything we needed was here. It was perfect. SO comfy with welcoming surprises like flowers in vases, biscuits and milk and… freshly laid eggs! Beautiful garden to sit in, and last but not least wonderful hosts who welcomed us on arrival. Very special people in a very special place.

* * * * * Steve and Lin – Relaxing and well thought out…

Thank you for a very relaxing week. A very well thought out cottage with some great touches, such as fresh flowers and the well done information pack. Good variety of eateries and pubs. We hope to come back – perhaps in sunnier weather! Helen and Patrick could write the book on “How to run a self-catering cottage”. Excellent hosts!

* * * * * Audrey and George – So cosy and comfortable!

Helen and Patrick have put so much thought and care into making this cottage perfect. Using old with a modern twist, it really works, so cosy and comfortable. Such friendly hosts: we feel we have always known them. Thank you for making our holiday special. We will recommend to everyone!

* * * * * John and Lorraine – An ideal base…

We enjoyed our stay in this very comfortable cottage which is an ideal base for walking the wonderful Yorkshire Wolds and visiting York.

* * * * * Ang and Tim – Perfect cottage!

Perfect stay in this perfect cottage. Loved everything about it and will certainly be back, rain or shine!

* * * * * Colin and Vivien – A beautiful little home from home…

Thank you so much for making our brief stay in Pocklington (capital of the Kindgom of Yorkshire!) very enjoyable. The excellence of Carpenter’s Cottage gave us great pleasure. You have created a beautiful little home from home.

* * * * * Fiona and Jim – A gem of a place!

A gem of a place in the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds! The cosiest cottage of the highest standard. Loved the garden, the hens (thanks, girls, for the lovely blue eggs!), the underfloor heating and all the lovely little touches. And thanks to our warm and welcoming hosts Helen and Patrick. Hoping we’ll be back for another stay – longer next time!

* * * * * Eve and Steve – It’s like a second home…

Once again a gorgeous stay at our favourite cottage! The welcome we receive from Helen and Patrick is always so warm: it’s like a second home. Clean, warm and comfortable, with so many thoughtful touches. We can’t recommend this cottage highly enough!
